Vegetable steaks are versatile and can be customized to suit your taste preferences. Select from portobello mushrooms, King Oyster mushrooms, Lions Mane mushrooms, cabbage, cauliflower, zucchini, eggplant, and butternut squash all make great choices for vegetable steaks. You can also experiment with different levels of the individual spices in the seasoning mix to suit your preferences and keep the sodium low or add none at all.

Cabbage steaks (my personal favorite next to cauliflower) are a delicious and creative way to use this Italian “Sausage” spice seasoning mix, turning it or any vegetable into a flavorful and satisfying main dish. I wonder if I can use this to create an Italian Tofu Sausage? Hmmmm, look for a post on this one soon!

It is also a great spice mix for adding to plant-based yogurt for a dip, any sauce for pasta or pizza, and in general a seasoning mix for anything else that you’d like to elevate the flavor profile.

Italian Sausage Spice Mix is a flavorful blend of herbs and spices commonly used to season Italian sausage or add an Italian sausage-like flavor to various dishes. The most prevalent spices are Fennel Seeds, Dried Oregano, Dried Basil, Garlic Granules, and Red Pepper Flakes. These spices blend together to create a well-balanced and aromatic blend that is commonly used to season everything from vegetables to tofu or another vegan protein where an Italian "sauzage" profile for various dishes like pasta sauces, pizzas, or as a standalone dish will be elevated.
